Remembrance

Remembrance is an animated short I am currently working on as a 2D animator, storyboard artist, and designer. Remembrance is still under development, so I only included what I felt represented my skills in animation and design best.

The 2D animated shots featured were all storyboarded and hand-animated by me.

With no experience in 2D animation, I learned how to animate in real time as I worked. As the beginning segment of the short, I used my shots to establish Memo’s personality as he interacts with the world around him. I set up the scenes to focus solely on Memo using his shadow or reflection to guide the viewers attention.

I wanted Memo to become a being outside of what I had designed. His mannerisms, such as nervously fiddling with his hands, gave him a life of his own. Translating his personality into the animation was all about these small details to me. As an animator, I strive to create high quality, thoughtful animations in this way.

Footage not final

I had the role as main character designer for the alien Memo.

Working with a team, I designed a character that fit both the story and team requests, as well as easily animated. I also created a series of assets and reference material for my teammates’ use.

Character Animation

I’ve practiced 3D character animation for video games. These examples showcase common character movements such as walking, jumping, attacking, and idling.

These were made using the Azri Rig by Jonathan Cooper.
